White Shoes & The Couples Company (WSATCC)

White Shoes & The Couples Company (WSATCC) Äb0is an Indonesian Pop Sextet from Jakarta who perform Indonesiana (Indonesian Pop music). The band was formed in 2002 during their college years at the campus of the Jakarta Arts Institute. Their music is greatly inspired by old Indonesia films soundtracks from the 70s and the acoustic spirit of Jazz musicians from the 30s – along with absorbing the rhythmical influence of retro disco as well as classical music arrangements, paying homage to the golden age of Indonesian Pop music during the 50s and the 70s, and particularly deriving inspiration from works by notable names in the history of Indonesian music, such as: Ismail Marzuki, Guruh Sukarno Putra, Fariz RM, and Jack Lesmana.
The band incorporates elements of these influences and their knowledge of Indonesian Pop music as well as films from the past, together with their own life experiences of living in the city of Jakarta today – to create their unique, sophisticated, and charming music character. All of this have given the music of WSATCC a strong local identity, relevancy, and made them stand out in the midst of the global music scene.
